What does it look like for you to enter into rest? Perhaps it is lying on the back porch on a hammock sipping sweet tea or playing board games with the kids. For others it might be a peaceful walk in the great outdoors or sitting around a camp fire listening to someone playing the guitar. This morning we were reminded that “You were not redeemed with corruptible things like silver or gold, … but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” Because of His sacrifice we can “enter His rest” because He is in complete control. If God went to such great lengths to save us from our sins and give us the opportunity to be adopted into His family, surely He can take care of the other areas of our life. So, let’s take a deep breath this morning and exhale slowly as we remember all of His wonderful promises that will not be broken.
“Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.” (Hebrews 4:1-2)
“We can trust, not only that He’s out for our good, but that He was willing to die the most horrible death to adopt and help us enter the rest.” (Scarlet Hiltibidal – Afraid Of All The Things)
This songs reminds us to place our courage in the Lord. He is our strength, sustainer and Savior.
I Will Fear No More - The Afters
“You're my courage when I worry in the dead of night You're my strength 'cause I'm not strong enough to win this fight You are greater than the battle raging in my mind I will trust You, Lord, I will fear no more (Oh-oh-oh-ohh, oh-oh-oh-oh-ohhhh) I will fear no more (Oh-oh-oh-ohh, oh-oh-oh-oh-ohhhh) I will fear no more”
Have a great day!
