I’ll never forget when I heard my pastor say on a Sunday morning several years ago that “You never know what the person in the pew is going through.” We are all inevitably going through something these days given the challenges we faced in 2020 with COVID-19. It is amazing what happens when we extend a helping hand or offer a kind word to someone in need. We tend to think less of our problems and more about how we can be a blessing to others. Psalm 23:1 perfectly describes what is needed to be content and satisfied when it says “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Fulfilling the need of knowing the Overseer of your soul is a game changer and frees us to share the love of Christ with family, friends and co-workers.
“Help other people to cope with their problems and your own will be easier to cope with.” (Norman Vincent Peale: Positive Thinking Every Day)
“For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your Souls.” (1 Peter 2:25)
This song reminds us of the power of mercy, grace, kindness, goodness, love, faith, patience and peace when we focus our attention on being more like Jesus.
“Yeah, there's no denying I have changed
'Cause I've been saved from who I used to be
But even at my best' I must confess
I still need help to see the way You see
Somebody with a hurt that I could have helped
Somebody with a hand that I could have held
When I just can't see past myself
Oh Lord, help me be”
Have a great day!
